How did I get here…you know here, as in blogging? Well, I’m glad you asked that question. You probably also want to know a bit more about who I am. Like, why didn’t I just lead out with that information in the first place….why put a blog on my business website? Well, for one I am my business and my business is me. So if you get to know either then you actually come to know both. I developed this thing I do within the niche of consulting which touches several areas which includes: Executive Coaching, Writing, Speaking and Advocacy. Let’s move to my “why”…why am I doing these things and why do I say I am my business and my business is me. I am in love with the untapped, undiscovered or underdeveloped potential in others. I call it a treasure hunt when I work with someone or an organization. I’m good at this treasure hunt and will continue to excavate for the treasure. It’s just that simple. I have chosen the format of blogging because I think it lets me say more than what I might could get on social media, while allowing the same personability afforded in that format. Mountain Peak Moments is all about the view from where you are, how you are going to get up the next mountain, sharing a few of the things you may or may have encountered and encouraging you to keep going as I share my own and other’s experiences here.
You may wonder what on earth qualifies me to peer into your world or chaos…..allow me to share just a little. You who may be looking at the same view I am right now filled with an expanse of the hills with the sun washing over the city. The river alive with spring life awaiting and plants gently leaning in to this first warming, ready at the cellular level to bud in the weeks to come. I’m sharing my view with others who have seized the opportunity to explore this beautiful space of a public library whose architects and planning committees took the time to build into the space the possibility of almost everything sensory. At best, I can say that the space leaves nothing wanting while certainly not looking like the libraries I grew up up. It doesn’t even feel like them either with all the “shushing” or the guilty feeling of the slightest noise made. So what does that have to do with my qualifications…well, I just demonstrated that I pay attention to everything…and I mean everything…someone just poured beans into the coffee grinder four floors down from me and they are not closing up the package. That’s what I can hear from my vantage point. I have this uncanny ability to “see” systems that work and do not, what adjustments would be more beneficial or efficient and how the changes would effect the totality of the environment. It’s a gift that I didn’t always understand (you can sometimes sound quite critical) and by the time I was ready to pursue a masters degree I was particularly thankful to stumble upon a degree program that gave validation and for this skill. It was called the Masters of Management and Organizational Leadership to which I successfully defended my Executive Coaching thesis. Over the years I have advocated for a number of things civically, working with the Mayor’s office, in education and always for a life our Constitutions says we can have. I can’t tell you what all the future posts will hold;I assure you they will only be descriptive and perhaps prescriptive of mine and others shared Mountain Peak Moments. Come climb with me……..
